EARTH and BEYOND

Since the fourth grade, I've been interested in the Earth Sciences and Astronomy. I remember my mother sitting at the dining room table, studying for her geology classes. She did some caving when we lived in Kentucky and my family was fortunate enough to explore some of the caves she was mapping. I thought the entire aspect of studying the Earth was fascinating. Of course, my love of the stars happened a bit later when my parents were taking astronomy courses in college. My father had a fairly decent telescope and we would go to the football field next to our house and view Jupiter and four of its moons, Saturn and her rings, and the marvelous craters of the moon. My sister and I were allowed to stay up a few nights for 2AM eclipses of the moon. And when Hale-Bopp came by, my husband and I could see it from the top of Horse Barn Hill in Storrs. As one can see, I've been heavily involved in the natural historical sciences for many years.

In this segment of my site, I am going to provide images and information for some of my more favorite areas of the Earth Sciences. I hope people are able to gain a little knowledge from my research.
